Engineering Services

Down to Earth Results provides practical and cost effective Tailings and Water Management services to the mining sector by:

Providing Construction Manager / Site Engineer Services. This service is invaluable to operations that have limited civil construction experience on site but can see benefits in either undertaking projects directly by using external labour and hired equipment or by engaging a representative to manage a Contractor on their behalf.

Conducting Regulated Dam Inspections. Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs) and Water Dams are typically regulated dams and require formal inspections on a regular basis. Inspections by an experienced facility operator can deliver both compliance with licence conditions and operational improvements.

Developing Risk Reduction Strategies. The way a TSF is operated has a significant influence on its performance. No matter how competent the design is and how low the inherent risk the design has, it can be further reduced by the adoption of good operating practices. Areas that can be developed are those the operator has a direct influence on such as water management, deposition, training, change management, construction, record keeping, maintenance, inspections, reporting, monitoring and data review.

Conducting TSF Project and Operation Reviews. The benefits of having a review of a facility by an experienced operator to Identify Improvement Opportunities cannot be over emphasised. Not only is it likely that cost savings can be made but the facilities operability can be enhanced.

Developing Surface and Groundwater Management Systems. Water that is both above and below ground is the major component to be managed at a TSF or water dam.  Robust management systems deliver low risk outcomes to both safety and the environment.

Creating Short and Long Term Facility Management Plans. Having short and long term plans for a facility that caters for both the day to day variability of the operation and also matches the Life of Mine schedule is an essential feature to maintain operational availability and flexibility.
